Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says the woman will appear in court next year following a widely circulated voice note that went viral. The woman can be heard defending the ban on pit bulls by calling for the ban on black people instead.

“The suspect, aged 60-year-old, was arrested and released the same day on a warning to appear in court on 27 March 2023”, says Muridili.

A case has been opened at the Boksburg North Police Station and transferred to Putfontein for further investigation.

Meanwhile, members of the Azanian People’s Organisation (Azapo) are picketing outside the woman’s home.
