Israel’s embattled Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu escalated a rare public dispute with US President Joe Biden on Tuesday, rejecting “pressure” from the White House after Biden criticised his controversial efforts to weaken the Israeli judiciary. Mr Netanyahu stressed that Israel would make its decisions “by the will of its people and not based on pressures from abroad”. President Biden hoped Mr Netanyahu would try to work out a genuine compromise.

Mutea Abu Musabeh, a political activist close to the HAMAS movement, spoke to Radio Islam International regarding the current protests in Israel and the impact on Palestinians.

Abu Musabeh said the current situation in Palestine is an ongoing and escalating conflict with Israel.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets across Israel after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired his defence minister, Yoav Gallant, who spoke out against controversial plans to overhaul the justice system.

Abu Mutea states that Palestinians keep paying the price – dehumanised, killed and terrorised – even when Israel has internal governance issues.

Palestinians were promised national security but are constantly pressured and deprived of fundamental human rights.
