Blocked Drain Blamed for N3 Gillooly’s Flooding

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2016-01-21

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police say a partially blocked drain is to blame for flooding on the N3 highway on the East Rand this afternoon.

Motorists have been experiencing major delays in Bedfordview due to earlier flash floods at the Gillooly’s Interchange on that section of the highway.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police spokesperson Kobedi Mokheseng says the water has since subsided and traffic is now starting to ease up.

“We even requested the assistance of emergency services and the maintenance. They’ve actually attended to a drainage system that was partially blocked there on the N12 direction west just where it joins the N3” – Eyewitness News.
