Britain faces free speech criticism as anti-monarch sentiments restricted

British police are facing backlash from activists and civil society after videos and images are emerging of the treatment of people who have publicly voiced their anti-monarch sentiments.

Which has raised concerns over the restrictions of free speech in the United Kingdom after anti-monarch protestors challenged the accession of King Charles III to the throne.

This comes just days after Queen Elizabeth II passed on at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

A women in Edinburgh holding a sign reading “abolish the monarchy” was charged with a breach of the peace, while another women in London was removed from Parliaments gates for holding a sign “Not my king”.

While a viral video shows a man being arrested by police after he exclaimed wordings on Price Andrew’s sexual harassment allegations as the Queens hearse travelled through the Scottish capital in preparation for her funeral scheduled for 19 September.

Following the Queens death, police have arrested anti-monarch protesters for the breach of peace.
