Cape Town Tourism Excited about South Africa’s Removal from UK Red List

Umm Muhammed Umar

Cape Town Tourism is thrilled that South Africa has at last been removed from the UK’s travel red list. According to EWN, South Africa had been struck off the list following months of lobbying.

The move, announced earlier this week has been celebrated.

As of Monday October 11, fully vaccinated South Africans can travel to the UK without having to quarantine. Meanwhile, fully vaccinated tourists from the UK, can travel to South Africa, without having to quarantine on their return home.

Cape Town Tourism says the UK has always been a vital source market for South Africa. According to EWN, Stats South Africa reported that the UK ranked number one on the overseas visitor list in 2019 and 2020, indicating that travellers and expats from the UK choose South Africa, and in particular, the city of Cape Town, as their preferred holiday destination.
