Cemeteries will be Closed on Eid Day, in line with COVID-19 Lockdown Regulations

As the blessed month of Ramadan draws to a close, the Islamic Burial Council (IBC) has announced that all Qabrastan’s will be closed on the blessed day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Muslims generally visit the Qabrastan on the day of Eid to pay their respects to their loved ones who passed away.

However, under the current COVID-19 lockdown regulations, visiting the Qabrastan is prohibited.

The IBC’s Salim Kazi says people should make dua for the Marhoomeen at home.

“Only with these lockdown regulations in place do we realise the privileges we had our disposal. We humbly ask each and every person to make Dua for all Marhoomeen, our country and the entire Ummah.”

Kazi has thanked community members in supporting the IBC’s protocols and procedures during the lockdown period in ensuring that all guidelines are adhered to.
