Clashes At Al-Aqsa, Jordan Pushes To Restore Status Quo

Apr 29, 2022

At least 42 Palestinians were injured in early morning clashes at Masjid-Al-Aqsa, in East Jerusalem, as Israeli police fired rubber bullets and stun grenades toward Palestinian youth on Friday, according to the Palestinian Red Cross.

Palestinians have accused Israel of not doing enough to enforce a ban on Jewish prayer on the esplanade.

Meanwhile, Jordanian officials announced on Thursday that they had notified Washington that they are ready to discuss the issue of clashes with Israel after the end of Ramadan next week.

The aim of the talks would be to identify steps that the occupation state could take to return conditions at Al-Aqsa to those of 22 years ago. Jordan accuses Israel of gradually changing restrictions on worship at the masjid since 2000.
