COVID-19 Infections Hit 21,343, Deaths Rise to 407

The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 21,343

This is an increase of 1,218 from Friday’s announcement.

The number of deaths has also increased by 10 bringing the total to 407.

The Western Cape has the most infections with 13,826, followed by Gauteng at 2,633, KwaZulu-Natal 1,777, Free State 196, North West 81, Mpumalanga 97, Limpopo 124, Eastern Cape 2 569, Northern Cape 40 and unallocated infections 0.

The total number of recoveries to date remain the same 10,104.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 564,370 this is an increase of 21,338 which were done in the last 24 hours.

“Regrettably we report a further 10 COVID-19 related deaths- this brings the total national deaths to 407.”

Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families and appreciation to the health workers who treated the patients.
