Devil Worshipers

By Hishaam Barghash, Imaam Haram

There is no doubt that the majority of us have read or heard what is being said in the media, regarding the sect of people who worship Satan. May Allaah disgrace the Satan and humiliate him. You might be amazed, just like the media appears to be amazed, and might condemn the existence of such a people.

And others might be surprised if we say that this sect of teenagers, or youngsters, represent only one of the many ways of worshipping Satan. And though this represents the highest level of deviation and corruption, let those who condemn such people on such action be surprised even further by knowing how much they themselves have fallen into the act of worshipping Satan, without even knowing it or feeling it.

And this astonishment will only disappear the day that they stand before Allaah. He says to them, which means: “Did I not enjoin upon you or children of Adam, that you not worship Satan, for indeed he is to you a clear enemy? And that you worship only me, this is a straight path, and he had already led astray from among you, much of creation, so did you not use reason? This is the hell fire which you were promised, enter to burn therein today for what you use to deny” (Ya Seen: 60-64)

But then it is too late when this happens, and there will be no benefit for transgressors and oppressors in giving excuses or in blaming one another. Allaah says, the meaning of which is: “And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, indeed Allah had promised you the promise of truth, and I promised you but I betrayed you, but I had no authority over you except that I invited you and you responded to me. So do not blame me but blame yourselves, I cannot be called to your aid nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed I deny your association of me with Allah before, indeed for the wrong doers or oppressors is a painful punishment”. (Ibraaheem: 22)

The group of the worshippers of Satan and that group of those who give in to his whisperings were heedless and did not realize the reality of what had befallen them and the entire Ummah, is their misconception and failure to understand issues in the right manner. They have a misconception regarding the definition of worship, so much so that worship to them is nothing more than movement in some rakaat while praying, and giving the zakaat from the money, and fasting, and performing Haj…and, yet this is in their best situations. There are others who have even chosen to neglect prayers and follow their own vain desires and do not recognize the word zakaat. Ramadan for them is a month of entertainment and watching TV. Traveling to a land of disbelievers and people of corruption is more beloved to their hearts than performing pilgrimage and traveling to the house of Allaah, Al Kaaba. They fail to realize the true definition of worship, the true worship for which Allaah created Jinn and mankind. So once their understanding of worship is corrupt, and it reflects an empty meaning to them, they fall into the worship of Satan unknowingly.

Similarly, the definition of polytheism has been corrupted in the minds and hearts of people. Polytheism has become known in the naïve picture or definition that a lot of people have been taught at schools and have adopted from watching films they consider to be Islamic or religious. This definition exudes that abandoning polytheism means that a person cannot prostate to an idol or a statue. Once this form of polytheism is not in existence, people feel that they have accomplished monotheism fully, but in reality the following verse applies to most of us and our actions. Allaah says, which means: “Most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with him” (Yusuf: 106). In fact, the first form in which these people worship Satan is when they abandon the Islamic Laws and replace them and favour Satanic Man-made Laws over them.

So they put aside the Laws of their Lord and thought lowly of the way of their Prophet and accepted to rule with and practice these Satanic Laws. Why, then, do they claim that they are believers?

As Allaah says, which means: “Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you? And what was revealed before you? They wish to refer legislation to Taghoot, which is all false objects of worship, while they were commanded to reject it and Satan wishes to lead them far astray. And when it is said to them: ‘Come to what Allah has revealed and to the messenger, you see the hypocrites turning away from you in aversion”. (Al-Nisaa: 60-61)

Also from the ways of worshipping Satan is the thought or the idea that people can choose from Islam what they wish, and leave out what they wish. They feel that they can leave what does not go according to their desires and they would say for example: “We will practice Islam in certain fields like some of the civil rules, and matters related to human behavior, and social affairs.” But as far as financial, economical, political, and foreign affairs go, they say “NO, we cannot apply these to our lives as they cannot be practiced any more; they do not work, because finance worldwide is based on usury, Ribaa, and the political rules, and foreign affairs for the countries are based on the Constitution of the United Nations, and so on.“ Surely, they are following the footsteps of Satan, as Allaah says, which means: “Oh! You who have believed, enter into Islam completely and perfectly and do not follow the footsteps of Satan, indeed he is to you a clear enemy”. (Al-Baqarah: 208).This means that you should enter into Islam inside out, heart and body, in all your issues and matters, in all situations, and in all relations. Otherwise, you will be following the footsteps of Satan.

Allaah says, which means: “Indeed those who reverted back to disbelief after guidance had become clear to them, Satan enticed them and prolonged hope for them, that is because they said to those who disliked what Allah sent down, ‘we will obey you in the apart of the matter’. And Allah knows what they conceal”. (Mohammed: 25-26) So, what do you think of those who obey them in all their matters?

Also included in their worship of Satan is their promotion of nudity, adultery and fornication, and immorality among the believers. Although they do not declare it with their tongues, their actions are the best proof of this. It is enough to observe the different media agencies and watch how they spread corruption, disbelief and false faith, with the help of nude women, obscene and immoral pictures, explicit depiction of adultery, fornication and prostitution, while giving all of this a respectful and dignified appearance.

These are indeed worshippers of Satan, followers of his footsteps as Allaah has said, the meaning of which is: “Indeed those who like that immorality should spread or publicize among those who have believed, will have a painful punishment in this world and the hereafter. And Allah knows and you do not know”. (An-Noor: 19)

Then Allaah warned those who have believed to follow the ways of Satan and his allies when He says, right after two verses, that which means: “Oh! You who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan, and whoever follows the footsteps of Satan indeed he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing”. (An-Nisa’: 21)

Another form of their worship of Satan, is averting people from the way of Allaah, and fighting the allies of Allaah and trying to destroy their image, and torturing them, and meanwhile, supporting and making allies with the enemies of Allaah and respecting them and bringing them closer to themselves.

Listen to Allaah describing the characteristics of those who are from the party of Satan: “Have you not considered those who make allies of people with whom Allah has become angry. They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to untruth while they know they are lying. Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment, indeed it is evil what they used to do. They took their false oaths as a cover so they averted people from the way of Allah, and for them is a humiliating punishment. Never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allah at all. Those are the companions of the fire, they will abide therein eternally.

“On the day (meaning the Judgment Day) Allah will resurrect them all, and they will swear to Him as they swear to you, And think that they have some standing. Unquestionable it is they who are the liars.

“Satan has overcome them and made them forget the remembrance of Allah. Those are the party of Satan unquestionably the party of Satan, they will be the losers, Indeed the ones who oppose Allah and his messengers, and his messenger those will be the most humble or humiliated.“ (Al-Mujaadalah: 14-20)

There are only two parties with no room for a third one: either the party of Allaah and His soldiers, and those who worship Him alone, and call people to Him, or the party of Satan, and those who call people to his way and avert them from the way of Allaah. Allaah says, which means: “Those who believe. Fight in the cause of Allah and those who disbelieve fight in the cause of Taghoot, meaning all false objects of worship. So fight against the allies of Satan, indeed the plot of Satan, has ever been weak”. (An-Nisa’: 76)

So all these are ways of worshipping Satan that a lot of people fall into. As for the last form of Satan-worship that has appeared lately, it is nothing but a putrid fruit of what those who fought and averted from the way of Allaah have implanted. They fought morality and started raising the youth in a system that has no connection to Allaah, omitting from the curriculum of education all that relates the new generation with its Lord, and replacing it with something else. Even saluting with Salam was omitted because it is the Islamic salutation.

They beautified in the eyes of young girls that they walk out of their homes practically naked and fight hijab (the cover of ladies), and fight those who wear it. They strive to put a lot of restrictions on the religious girls and deprive them from entering schools and universities. They spread their poison, day and night, in public and in secret, through their media agencies. They permitted devices like the TV and satellite to receive corruption, and immorality and disbelief and polytheism. They try to pollute and destroy the image of Islam and those who call to it. They label those who try to follow in the footsteps of the Messenger sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam as “fundamentalists”, and “extremists”, and propagate amongst the youngsters that holding onto and following the paradigm of the leaders of corruption and misguidance, is in reality, civilization and modernization. They stop in the way of the callers to the way of Allaah becoming an obstacle between them and the upcoming generations, in schools and Universities. So those who promote secularism and those who follow the desires and lust, will have freedom to do as they wish. And then, after all this, they act surprised and they condemn the vice in a way that is fitting so as to absorb the anger of the Muslim nations upon seeing such open disbelief appearing among them. Yet, in the meanwhile, they strike those who propagate Islam with different types of harsh punishment, without differentiating between the young and old, women, students, or others, and request that the most severe punishment be imposed on these people – worshippers of Allaah, Most Merciful. These same people justify and give excuses to those who worship Satan and say that the servants of Allaah are deceived youngsters, and that they do not know what they are saying, and so on.

We request these people to deal with the servants of Allaah and give them justifications and excuses, just like they do with the worshippers of Satan, and to punish them only to the level and extent they punish the worshippers of Satan.

Allah says, which means: “And of the people is he who speaks, whose speech pleases you in worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to what is in his heart, yet he is the fiercest of opponents. And when he goes away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and destroy crops and animals and Allah does not like corruption”. (Al-Baqarah: 204-205)

Oh Islamic nation! Oh nation that is killing itself by itself, driving its generations into a bottomless pit! If Allaah forbade you from burying your new born girls alive and killing your sons, then what is greater is that you leave them unprotected, unguided and undirected until they reach a point where they openly worship Satan.

If parents continue to be in this heedless state, our children are all subject to what has happened to others, or what was practiced by other kids. Due to the objective and responsibility given to the parents by Allaah regarding their kids, He commanded them to fulfill their due rights, as He has said, which means: “Oh! You who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a fire whose fuel is people and stones”. (Al-Tahreem: 6)

And as the Messenger sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said: “Each one of you is a guardian (or a care taker) and he will be questioned about those whom he was entrusted with”. (Sahih Bukhari & Muslim)

Sadly, the interests of the fathers and mothers have changed to become one-sided only – that their kids get educated regarding Dunya matters, or scientific or secular education. They have become heedless and neglect raising their children Islamically, failing to educate them regarding their religious matters, and the laws and constitution of their Lord. They do not know that by doing this they will lose in this life and the life to come.

As for the life to come, the hereafter, they lose it because they shun the way that has come to them from their Lord, and as for losing in this world it is because there is no rectification or correction that can be done in this world except with the rectification of faith. So it is up to the parents and the guardian. If they want to preserve their children from these wickedness-guided ways that will lead them to a bottomless pit, then they must re-evaluate their positions and preserve their children, and pay special attention to teaching them prayers, honesty, morality, and following the footsteps of the righteous predecessors.

And let the advice of Luqman, peace be upon him, to his son, be the method and the way for every father and every caretaker. As Allaah says, which means: “(Oh Mohammed! Mention that story) And when Luqman said to his son, while he was instructing him, Oh My son! do not associate with Allah, indeed association is great injustice”. (Al-Luqman: 13)

And they should also protect their families from different means of corruption, like TV and magazines, bad company, and places of corruption. They need to monitor the curriculum that is being taught to them to keep in check if it contains anything that is against or not in accordance with the rules of Allaah. At the same time, they should warn their children and explain to them the right path and the true way. They should encourage them to do righteous and moral acts and obey Allaah and remember Him, and supplicate to Him. And the greatest and the best way of remembering Allaah is through salaat and recitation of Quran.

Allaah says, which means: “Oh! You who believe, protect yourselves and your families from a fire whose fuel is people and stones.” (Al-Tahreem: 6)
