A 32-year-old South African woman has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after she was found in possession of cocaine worth an estimated R 1.6 million.

It’s understood the woman arrived from Dubai with the cocaine on Friday which was hidden in sealed tins in her luggage.

The police’s Vishnu Naidoo says the woman is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court today.

“Members of the South African Police Services (SAPS) at OR Tambo International Airport arrested a 32-year-old South African. She was found in possession of cocaine weighing approximately 5.7kg with a value of R 1.6 million. The woman was immediately detained and she’s expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrates Court today on charges of dealing in drugs.”
