Ennerdale to Get New Multi-Million Rand Orphanage

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 11-09-2017

The community of Ennerdale south of Johannesburg has been lauded for an initiative to construct a new multi-million rand orphanage.

The project which is being undertaken by the local Muslim community will be open to the entire community of Ennerdale.

City of Joburg’s Chair of Chairs, Councillor Mohamed Christians praised civil society for taking the lead and says he would take up the challenge from social activist Yusuf Abramjee to engage Mayor Herman Mashaba for a contribution towards the project.

Speaking at the soil turning ceremony yesterday, Abramjee says the orphanage was “urgently needed in Ennerdale and it will assist some 100 children.”

“If we wait for government, we going to wait for a long time. I salute the local community to taking up the challenge and building this facility.”

More than R25 000 was donated from residents while a further R300 000 was pledged from a nearby Muslim community.

Former President of the Muslim Judicial Council, Shaik Irfaan Hendricks says he is proud of the Ennerdale community and its religious leaders for initiating the project while the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa’s Moulana Bilal Vaid says the project needs all the support from the community.

The Baitul Haleema Orphanage is expected to be completed next year.
