Gift of the Givers Emergency/Disaster Facility at Nurul Islam Hall in Lenasia Making a Difference in Treating COVID-19 Infections

Faizel Patel – 23/07/2021

As the country continues to battle the third wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Gift of the Givers COVID-19 Emergency/Disaster Facility at Nurul Islam Hall in Lenasia has had a good success rate in treating patients with the virus.

Doctors, nurses and volunteers have been working around the clock to treat patients with the support of the community.

The NGO set up the facility at the Nurul Islam Hall more than fifteen days ago to reduce the pressure on the hospital system.

Earlier this month, the Emergency/Disaster Facility discharged its first patient after being treated for the Coronavirus.

Speaking to Radio Islam, Dr Fatima Lambat says the support has been phenomenal and has thanked the community for their assistance and generosity.

“Alhamdulillah everyone has contributed to these patients. We have had 51 admissions in the past two weeks, 27 discharges, 10 people have been transferred to hospital, and one them has successfully been discharged from hospital Alhamdulillah.”

Dr Lambat says they remain committed to assisting those infected with COVID-19.
