The Hawks have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the matric paper leaks.

Themba Daniel Shikwambana was nabbed last week Wednesday and made his first court appearance at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

He was granted R 1,000 bail.

According to the Hawks Katlego Mogale, Shikwambana works for a Johannesburg-based company contracted by the education department to print matric exam papers.

Last month, the Maths Paper 2, Physical Science and Life Sciences exams were leaked just days apart.

Mogale says an investigation into the leakage of other papers is still continuing.

Meanwhile, the Council of Education Ministers (CEM) held a special meeting on Tuesday morning to receive a preliminary report into the matric exam paper leak.

The council agreed that the credibility, integrity and fairness of the mantric exams cannot be compromised.

It says the report will be processed internally and Education Minister Angie Motshekga will hold a media briefing later this week.
