The Department of Health has slammed Covid-19 fake news circulating on social media. According to the fake news, it is alleged that a new Covid-19 has been detected, and people will again have to put on their masks. It is alleged that the Department of Health released the message.

Radio Islam International speaks to the Department’s Foster Mohale concerning the gist and facts compared to the fake news.

Since the outbreak of Covid 19, battling misinformation and fake news has been circulating via social media and other platforms.

The recent post that has been circulating was attributed to the Minister of Health calling on people to wear masks and avoid public spaces as there were allegations of a new variant detected.

Mohale confirms there is no new variant, rather explaining, the sub-variants of omicron called BA4 and BA5, which are not deadly, have been addressed.

He added that despite the sub-variants not emitting deadly threats. People should tread cautiously and get vaccinated, as lifting the ban does not mean the Covid pandemic is over.
