Israeli police are to move into the Dubai consulate to run operations targeting Israeli-run organised crime who have moved to the UAE since normalisation, according to The Telegraph.

It is believed that several organised criminal operations relocated to the UAE in the wake of the normalisation agreements signed in September 2020 between Israel and the Gulf state, The New Arab reported.

Notorious families, such as the Hariri and Chaya families, are thought to have moved to the UAE and reportedly controlled prostitution, drug dealing, and money laundering rackets.  Eran Chaya, the son of notorious mafia don Eitan Chaya, also known as “Israeli Godfather” in New York.

The intention to establish an Israeli police presence in the Gulf nation was initially raised in March by the former Interior Minister, Amir Ohana.

Israel and the UAE normalised relations one year ago, a move rejected by all Palestinian factions to betray the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people.

Despite the Israeli police presence in the country, the two nations have no extradition treaty between them. However, it is believed that they are working together to track down the gangsters.
