Israeli & Settler Attacks Trying to Frustrate Residents out of their Homes in Sheikh Jarrah

Faizel Patel – 23/06/2021

An anonymous sister from Palestine says Palestinians have been facing Israeli oppression for a long time, but the last few days have been very severe.

Israeli police used stun grenades and sprayed skunk water on Palestinians in the flashpoint occupied East Jerusalem neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah.

The Palestine Red Crescent says 20 Palestinians were wounded in the fighting and reports say several were arrested.

The medic service also says several of its ambulances were targeted by Jewish settlers who hurled stones at its vehicles.

The anonymous sister says Palestinians struggle against Israeli oppression and illegal settlers is continuing.

She says the last three nights have been the roughest.

“It was really, really bad. The house that the settlers occupied, there has been last night over fifty settlers and they were all equipped with pepper spray. What they were is they were approaching the Palestinians, the Arabs and the people who are with us in the neighbourhood and spraying all of the people they approached with the pepper spray.”

The anonymous sister says the Israeli’s and settler are trying to frustrate Palestinians with constant attacks.”

“They think that if they keep doing that, that’s going to make us sick of living in the neighbourhood and be frustrated and just want to leave the neighbourhood. That’s not going to happen. We are going to stay steadfast and we will not give up to easily.”

The sister says they will continue with their lives and struggle against the illegal occupation.
