Judgement To Be Given On Murder Case of Mohammed Dangor

By Umamah Bakharia

The Klerksdorp Magistrate Court is expected to give a judgement on the murder case of Speedy Cars Klerksdorp owner, Mohammed Dangor.

It has been just over 2 years since Dangor was shot after a business altercation at the car dealership which led to the suspect killing Dangor and injuring two others.

The accused, Tshiamo Sekgoro, handed himself over to the police shortly after the incident and later testified that he never planned to shoot Dangor or the two other victims.

Sekgoro said he feared for his life on the day of the shooting and acted in self-defence as he believed that Dangor was armed. He also questioned the CCTV footage that captured the tragic incident of the day on camera. State advocate Riekie Krause pointed out that the accused was the only gunman.

Radio Islam spoke to Qari Ziyaad Patel, who is at the Klerksdorp Magistrates court following the proceedings.

“There [have] been many delays to this case, unfortunately, [however, the prosecution was looking at loops for] the culprit in question here,” says Qari Ziyaad.

Supporters of Dangor are present at the court demanding that justice be served.

“The protestors want their voices to be heard today that yes, justice must be served because this was a ruthless killing, a cold-blooded killing of such a significant soul,’ says Qari Ziyaad.

He adds: “We hope that [the judge] will set down a sentencing in accordance with the crime that has been committed.”
