Lenasia Muslim School Bus Crashes Leaving Several Kids Injured

By Naadiya Adams

Overturned minibus transporting LMS students

On Tuesday afternoon after school, a minibus carrying school kids from LMS south of Johannesburg overturned after colliding with a truck.

The accident happened along the K43 route after the Trade Route Mall in Lenasia.

According to the school principal at least thirteen pupils were involved and suffered mild to moderate injuries, while one child suffered a serious hand injury.

The school’s principal, Nasreen Suliman shared an update.

“We just wanted to inform you there had been an accident; there were 13 learners involved in an accident. As soon as we got the message, you know very alarming, my deputy principal and many of my teachers were on the scene to tend to the learners and contact the parents,” explained Suliman.

The road was subsequently closed off as a leaking fuel gushed from the minibus posing a fire risk.

Learners were taken to Lenmed hospital for treatment.

Suliman warned as we approach the holiday season road users need to be extra cautious.

“This time of the year, be careful on the roads, all those that are transporting learners please be careful, it’s a terrible time we’ve seen many accidents. We make lots and lots of dua daily that Allah SubhanAllah Ta’aala keeps all our learners and our teachers on the road safe,” said Suliman.

Suliman says the school will continue to do all that it can to assist learners.
