The Lenasia police station says it is experiencing a spike in crime in the suburb.

Spokesperson Bafana Ndimande says there has been a significant increase in common and aggravated robberies.

Nidmande says there is a great need to reduce such crimes.

“We appeal to the community to be vigilant at all times and always  avoid to carry large amounts of cash avoid to ask for assistance at ATM’s from strangers, be on the lookout for bogus police officers, be aware of their surroundings, be safe as your life is always precious.”

Ndimande has urged the community to report any criminal activities to the police.

The Muslim community have also been urged to park their cars in safe places and ensure the vehicle is locked when going for Taraweeh salaah.
