Lenasia police say there has been a dramatic increase in crime including hijackings and robberies in the suburb with criminals now using food apps and Uber to commit crimes.

The police have reiterated that there is a need to reduce such crimes as its having an impact on the community.

Spokesperson Bafana Ndimande has urged the public to be wary of their surroundings especially in the evenings.

“We advise the public to be vigilant at all times, especially at Lehae and Thembelihle Informal Settlement, the criminals tend to order food from the Restaurant Apps and request delivery, and even request Uber services with the aim to commit crimes.”
