As communities across South Africa battle the COVID-19 pandemic, Africa Muslims Agency has donated much needed equipment to the Lenasia South Muslim Association (LSMA) to assist people affected by the Coronavirus.

Africa Muslims Agency’s Hassen Choonara was speaking to Radio Islam on Thursday morning about the organisation’s  humanitarian efforts to various communities across the country.

Choonara says various donors have made it possible for Africa Muslims Agency to assist vulnerable communities during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“The Africa Muslims Agency through the generosity of donors have assisted the Lenasia South Muslim Association with an oxygen concentrator, pulse oximeter, masks, thermometers as well. With the pandemic and ever increasing numbers especially around the communities in the south, there is a demand for the oxygen concentrator, a lot of people are in need of it.”

Choonara says there is a huge demand for the Oxygen Concentrator.

“We  have devices, oxygen concentrators out around the country administered in the proper protocols and processes with doctors overseeing the administration of it.”

On Wednesday, three hundred and ninety-eight more people died here in South Africa after contracting the Coronavirus pushing the national death toll to 45,344 while 4,058 new infections were also picked up over the same period bringing South Africa’s known case load since the start of the outbreak to almost 1.5 million.
