[LISTEN] Councillor Abdur Rahmaan Rickey Nair wins Ward 58

Newly elected ward councillor won with 48% of the votes. Abdur Rahmaan Rickey Nair stated that he is ready to serve the community.

Rahmaan spoke to Radio Islam International; he says that this ward lacks leadership over the last 10 or 12 years.

“I will do my best, I want to see change and I want to leave a legacy”.

Abdur Rahmaan has been a community activist for a number of years, and he now hopes that by becoming a member of the formal structures of local governance, he would be able to make a bigger impact.

“As a leader of the community, it is all about service, upliftment and making a change in people’s lives and that is what I continue to do.
