The United Ulama Council of South Africa (UUCSA) has confirmed that the Hilaal for the blessed month of Ramadan has not been sighted.

Therefore the 1st of Ramadan will correspond to Wednesday the 14th of April 2021.

UUCSA’s Ml Ebrahim Bham made the announcement on Monday evening on Radio Islam.

“The United Ulama Council of South Africa have reached a decision that the hilaal for the month of Ramadan this year was not sighted in South Africa. Thus Ramadan will commence from Maghrib tomorrow.”

Ml Bham has urged the Muslim ummah to make dua that this Ramadan be one of blessings in which we earn rewards, come closer to Allah and turn towards Him in humility and submission.

“We also make dua that within this month, we inculcate within ourselves kindness. Nabi-e-kareem (SAW) while addressing the Ummah on the objectives of Ramadan had said: ‘It is a month of kindness and compassion. May we also inculcate discipline and sabr as our beloved has told us it is a month of sabr and perseverance.'”

Ml Bham also emphasized on the sense of normality that has returned to our collective life including the masaajid which are now allowed to accommodate more worshippers during this great month unlike last year when the country was under hard lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
