[LISTEN] Ml Muhammad Vanker Pays Tribute to Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai (RA) following his Return to the Mercy of Allah

Faizel Patel – 16/072021

South Africa has lost another esteemed Islamic scholar following the passing away of one of country’s most senior Aalim Hadhrat Mufti Ebrahim Desai (RA).

Mufti Desai of the Darul Iftha in Sherwood in KwaZulu-Natal passed away on Thursday just Maghrib on the blessed day of Jumu’ah.

Mufti Desai was an internationally recognised and acknowledged scholar.

He was one of the first to start Islamic Q & A on the internet with the world renowned “Ask Imam” website and also taught at the Durul Uloom in Isipingo and Camperdown.

His fatawa was well-known and well received throughout the world.

Speaking to Radio Islam, one of his multitude of students Ml Muhammed Vanker from Umhlanga says Mufti Desai is irreplaceable.

“I say this without exaggeration that Mufti Ebrahim Desai Saab was one of those individuals would had left an indelible impression on the hearts of not only one or two or ten or a hundred, but rather millions of individuals globally.”

Ml Vanker says Mufti Desai was perhaps the most balanced and academic Islamic scholars of our time.

“There’s one quality that I found in Mufti saab, he never criticised any person for no, no reason. Mufti saab was an academic scholar, many of us have seen his fatawa, we have seen his research. These were not emotional fatawa, but rather this was based on knowledge.”

Ml Vanker says Mufti Desai has left a huge vacuum that will be really hard to fill.

A full tribute to Mufti Desai Insha’Allah will be broadcast soon on Radio Islam International by Ml Obeidullah Bhoja on the Ulama Profile Programme.
