Esteemed Islamic scholar Ml Sulaimaan Ravat says effective communication between husband and wife is an essential ingredient for a happy and blissful marriage.

Ml Ravat’s discussion is part of Radio Islam’s focus on Women’s Month and how the fairer sex also plays an important role within marriages, families and society.

Men and women communicate different and effective communication is part of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Ml Ravat says the holy Qur’an emphasizes on the tone of the speech when addressing each other.

“You see tone, it’s not only what you say, it’s how you say it. What you say it important, but how you say it is equally important if not more important. The Qur’an says ‘be moderate in your pace and lower your voice. Indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys.”

Ml Ravat says men need to be aware of their tone and the volume of their voice when addressing their wives.

“They are sensitive. Allah has created them sensitive. Your tone can make or break your relationship. So, at times you need to tell your wives something very serious, but how you tell her will soften the blow, will make it more penetrable, more digestible and acceptable.”

Ml Ravat says men should be very careful of their tone because the tone tells truth even if our words don’t.
