[LISTEN] Mufti Taqi Usmani Survives Attempt on His Life

Faizel Patel – 08/07/2021

Esteemed Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani has survived another attempt on his life.

In a voice note in the possession of Radio Islam, the renowned Mufti Usmani says he was approached by an unknown individual just after the Fair salaah or early morning prayer on Thursday at a masjid in Pakistan.

Mufti Usmani says the man wanted to speak to him in private when he lunged forward and tried to attack him.

“As I got up to speak to him, he reached out to his pocket for a knife. Suddenly our security personnel intercepted him and stopped him. Alhamdulillah, I haven’t been hurt and nothing happened.”

Mufti Usmani says the man was taken into custody and officials are investigating the attempt on his life.

“At the moment there is an investigation ongoing to find out where the person hails from, what was his intention and why he came.”

In a comment to Radio Islam, esteemed Islamic scholar Mufti Shafiq Jakhura says Mufti Usmani was seated in the masjid after Fajr with some of the students of Darul Uloom Karachi in Pakistan when the attempt was made on his life.

“We pray to Allah (SWT) that Allah (SWT) keep safe and protect Hazrat Mufti Saab and all our other buzrukh ka ne deen, akabeer of this ummat from all sides from the veil plain of the enemy.”

Mufti Jakhura says security services and intelligence officials are investigating the motive for the attack on Mufti Usmani.
