A Palestinian journalist based in Gaza says the Palestinian resistance will not tolerate attacks on its commanders and will retaliate accordingly.

Top Islamic Jihad commander 42-year-old Bahaa Abu al-Ata and his wife were killed by an Israeli air attack on Gaza City on Tuesday morning.

In a statement, Hamas says the Israeli attacks and the assassination of al-Atta is a “continuation of Israeli aggression towards the Palestinian people”.

Shortly after the attack, Palestinian groups launched a salvo of rockets towards Israel with no reports of any casualties.

Speaking to Radio Islam live from Gaza amid bombing by Israeli war planes and huge explosions, journalist Wafa A al-Udaini says the Palestinian resistance will not take the killing of al-Atta lying down.

“The Palestinian resistance will not stand for such a crime. They responded by firing rockets into Israel as a result of breaking the ceasefire agreement.”

Al-Udaini says while the Palestinian rockets are homemade and cause little damage, Israel’s bombardment leaves a trail of destruction.

“They invented rockets fired to Israel just to defend themselves from the Israeli daily crimes against the Palestinians whether in Gaza or in occupied Palestine.

According to health officials, at least 15 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli bombardment in Gaza.
