[LISTEN] Ridgeway a Multi-Faceted Society Embracing Different Cultures

Faizel Patel – 13/08/2021

The founder of the Ridgeway Forum Zubair Patel says the major concerns surrounding the suburb is security.

Patel was speaking to Radio Islam during the weekly community report.

Originally from Lenasia, Patel says the forum focused on security to make Ridgeway safe for all those who live in the neighbourhood.

“The first point of call was let’s get the neighbours together and start meeting everyone, so at least we know who they are and we can lookout for each other if and when need be.”

Patel says Ridgeway is a multi-racial and social community embracing different cultures.

“If I just take my small street, I have white neighbours, black neighbours, coloured neighbours and there’s Muslim neighbours in between. When we got there and we there for almost twenty-four years now, I would say it was predominantly white. There has been change over the years and obviously with masaajid coming up between Robertsham, Ridgeway, Mondeor and the likes.”

Patel says the neigbourhood watch works closely with the Community Policing Forum (CPF) to ensure the suburb is well maintained and crime is under control.
