[LISTEN] SAHUC Elects New Office Bearers

Umm Muhammed Umar

SAHUC has informed Radio Islam that new office bearers had been elected at the AGM held on Saturday the 25th of September 2021.

The new office bearers that were elected for the ensuing two years were Brother Shaheen Essop in the position of President, Sheikh Adam Mashego as the first Deputy President, Sheikh Riad Fataar as the second Deputy President, with Brother Hassan Choonara as the Secretary, his assistant being Brother Muaz Casoo. Brother Bilal Saloojee, a chartered accountant who has been with SAHUC for several years now, has been elected as Treasurer and his assistant is to be Brother Aasif Essop. Three additional members making up the board are Hafidh Ismail Kolvadia, Qari Moosa Seedat, and Brother Yusuf Cassim, who represents the Awqaf group on SAHUC, as well. The board will be complete just as soon as the regional chairpersons of Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg are elected.

deliberations and discussions around the organization’s financials had also taken place at the AGM.  Unfortunately, with the past two Hajj seasons not having been accessible to South Africans, SAHUC has had very little income. As a result, reserves will have to be tapped into.  SAHUC added that they will, therefore, have their work cut out for them, in the coming years, to ensure that the organization continues on a very good footing.

There were no issues raised at the SAHUC’s AGM, nor at the National General Council meeting.
