[LISTEN] South African 1 of 10 Worldwide Competing for Mercedes F1 Job

A South African youngster has been selected as one of the top ten candidates to compete for the next Petronas Trackside Fluid Engineer (PTFE) for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team.

Muhammad Moolla has made it to the third stage of the competition.

The 25-year-old who hails from Crosby in Johannesburg has been selected from more than seven thousand two hundred applicants Worldwide and the only person from Africa to compete for the position.

Moolla says this is once in lifetime opportunity.

“I enjoyed Formula 1 from the time I was small. This inspired me also to become an engineer. So for me it’s just a great achievement to make it this far and also to know that Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, the other Formula 1 driver will be watching my video on linked-in and also be voting in this stage.”

Moolla says the competition closes on Sunday and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.
