With a week of the blessed month of Ramadan almost over, the Imam of the Haram in Makkah, Saudi Arabia has urged Muslims to fear Allah, increase in their good deeds and repent to the Almighty.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais delivered the Khutbah in the Haram on Friday.

He says the blessed days of Ramadan are an opportunity to review oneself and reform during the holy month.

“Ramadan is an opportunity to sense the lofty meanings that the Islamic religion intended to achieve. This great task is achieved by the family, the masjid, the school, the university, society, the media and modern channels of communication”

Sheikh Sudais says Ramadan has a lot of initiatives.

“How beautiful that the initiative starts with readiness and good reception and renewal of repentance and multiplication of reading the Qur’an and tolerance, avoidance and renounce envy and hatred and give charity.”

Sheikh Sudais quoted a hadith in which the Prophet of Allah (saw) said : “There are people who fast and get nothing from their fast except hunger, and there are those who pray and get nothing from their prayer but a sleepless night.”

Sheikh Sudais says the ultimate intention and the most fundamental goal of fasting is piety.
