Muslim visitors to Masjid-un-Nabawi will be greeted with new carpets when they visit the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Masjid in Medina, Saudi Arabia.

The new green carpets were laid out throughout the masjid this week ahead of the blessed month of Ramadan which commences on either the 5th of 6th of May depending on the sighting of the moon.

The carpets in the masjid were previously red except for Raudah Mubarak, the area between the resting place of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his pulpit, which is also green.

Millions of people visit Masjid-un-Nabawi in Medina every year to convey their salutations to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the greatest human to have ever set foot on this earth.

The messenger of Allah (PBUH) is buried in Masjid-un-Nabawi in the home of his wife Hazrat Aisha (RA) alongside his two companions Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) and Hazrat Umar (RA).

The prophet Muhammad (PBUH) migrated to the city of Medina after leaving Makkah more than 1440 years ago.
