A media statement was issued on Tuesday regarding a fight that had taken place at the Association of Muslim Schools soccer tournament in Auckland, Johannesburg this week. This followed an unfortunate fight between two supporters, after a referee decision, that resulted in one member being physically injured.

The Executive Committee of Association of Muslim Schools South Africa released a statement that read:

بِسْمِ ٱللّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

All praise is due to Allah S.W.T for granting us a successful AMS tournament. We would like to place our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Auckland Park Academy of Excellence for holding a successful tournament. May the Almighty Allah S.W.T reward them for their efforts. Regrettably, there was an incident in the tournament that was not in keeping with the AMS vision and values. AMS South Africa is investigating the incident and will take the necessary actions and disciplinary measures. We thank all schools for their participation and pray to Allah S.W.T, and hope that their teams and well wishers return home safely.
