Ramadan is a month of giving and that is exactly what German Fenerbahçe midfielder Mesut Ozil has done

The footballer has donated €101,000 to the Turkish Red Crescent for an aid campaign run during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement, the Turkish Red Crescent Society says Ozil’s donation will be used to provide much needed food parcels to the needy in Turkey, Indonesia, and for Rohingya Muslims in refugee camps in Bangladesh.

The Turkish Red Crescent Society says that iftar meals will also be served to orphans in Syria’s Idlib province and the Somali capital, Mogadishu, throughout the great month of Ramadan.

President of the Turkish Red Crescent, Dr Kerem Kinik says Ozil has contributed to spreading smiles on the faces of thousands of children in many countries for years.
