Muslims Show Compassion & Aid KZN Storm Victims

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 11-10-2017

Renowned Islamic scholar and member of NGO Darul Ihsaan, Mufti Zubair Bhayat says while there is a need for rain, people should make Dua for it to fall in the catchment areas.

At least seven people died yesterday as a result of flash floods or structural collapses caused by the heavy downpours and strong winds in KwaZulu-Natal.

Mufti Bhayat says people should spare a thought for those who have been affected by the rain, especially those living in informal settlements.

“So those who Allah has blessed with ease and comfort and means should express solidarity with those who are suffering. If possible cook a pot of food, provide blankets and basic clothing as many of their bedding and clothes may have become soaked in the rain.”

Mufti Bhayat says the assistance is an outreach opportunity for the Muslim community in which they could display their compassion, caring and sharing nature.

Radio Islam’s Ml Junaid Kharsany echoed Mufti Bhayat’s sentiments

“Well this could be expected, but it seems to be well organised this time that many community groups amongst the Muslims doing a splendid job in assisting the poorer and the informal settlements of the Durban area. No doubt the Muslim community has responded and Allah reward those that have come to the fore.”

Darul Ihsaan’s Abdul Sheikh told Radio Islam the organisation has distributed close to 200 blankets yesterday in three informal settlements and will be handing out food parcels on Monday to those affected by the storm.
