Police have confirmed that three people have been arrested for the kidnapping of six-year-old Amy-Lee De Jager.

It’s understood the suspects were arrested at their homes in Vanderbijlpark on Wednesday night and in the early hours of Thursday morning.

De Jager was kidnapped on Monday after four men allegedly snatched her from her mother at the Kollege Park Primary School.

The police’s Vish Naidoo says that one of the people arrested is known to the family.

“During an intelligence driven operation, members from our family violence child protection and sexual offences unit arrested two women aged 27 and 40 as well as a 50-year-old man at their homes in Vanderbijlpark. All three suspects are currently in police custody on a charge of kidnapping and they’re expected to appear in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court before the close of business tomorrow.”

Naidoo says police cannot rule out the possibility of more suspects being arrested as the investigation progresses.
