Planned water shutdown for parts of Johannesburg from 3 to 4 June

Media statement released by the Rand Water urging residents to use water sparingly and only for essential purposes. Johannesburg Water would like to inform residents of a planned water shutdown. The shutdown is planned for the 3rd to the 4th June 2022.

Maintenance entails repair and maintain of the infrastructure at the Rand Water Vereeniging purification works which will have a 50% impact of the bulk water supply to the city of Johannesburg. The areas that will be affected in the City of Johannesburg will be the western parts of Johannesburg, the Randburg area, the Roodepoort area, and certain areas within Soweto,” said Johannesburg Water Operations General Manager Etienne Hugo.

The duration of the shutdown will be 39.5 hours starting from 7:00 AM on the 3rd until 22:00 PM on the 4th . The system is expected to recover within 2-3 days after the H12 pipeline is re-commissioned.
