Prof Andre Duvenhage: “There is a Written Document Indicating Jacob Zuma will be Taken into Custody”

North West Professor and political analyst Andre Duvenhage says there is a written document indicating that former President Jacob Zuma will be taken into custody.

Duvenhage was speaking to Radio Islam on Monday about a number of issues including the possible outcome of the African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee (NEC) meeting on Monday.

Last week Zuma released an eight-page statement in which he warned that the country’s democracy would unravel and democratic gains would be lost in the ashes, hours after the Constitutional Court heard an application by the state capture commission regarding the former president’s refusal to testify before it.

The commission wants Zuma jailed for being in contempt of the apex court.

Duvenhage says Zuma could be jailed if the  Constitutional Court rules against him.

“I received some information that there is a written document for taking Jacob Zuma in custody if the court decision is accordingly and I am expecting this to play out most likely towards the end of April at the time when Cyril Ramaphosa will testify before the Zondo Commission.”

Zuma said that he was willing to serve time in jail.
