Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2014-07-04

A very deeni conscious (religious) and prominent Muslim doctor has been brutally murdered in an attempted armed robbery in Robertsham, south of Johannesburg.

Dr. Khalid Hoosain, a specialist surgeon at the Lenmed Private Hospital in Lenasia was about to leave for Fajr salaah (early Morning Prayer) at 5:30am with his son Huzaifah when he was accosted by three armed men who were hiding behind a wall in the driveway.

The suspects tried to gain entry into the home when one suspect fired 6 to 7 shots hitting Dr. Hussain in the chest and leg.

Dr. Hoosain was rushed to Lenmed Private Hospital but sadly passed away enroute.

According to a source the suspects jumped the wall of the yard as the gate was still locked and fled the scene on foot.

“We are currently investigating the cause of the incident. The family was traumatized when members of the police arrived on the scene,” Booysens Police Communications Officer Lorraine van Emmerik said.

Warrant officer Emmerik confirmed a case of murder has been opened.
