Rand Water plans a 53-hour shut down in Johannesburg and Tshwane

Umamah Bakharia

Rand Water has announced a planned 53-hour water outage in six of Gauteng’s municipalities from Thursday, 11 August to Sunday, 13 August.

The water utility said that the outage was necessary for it to complete a tie-in of a newly installed S4 pipeline into an existing pipeline. Adding that this is part of its strategy to refurbish and upgrade the infrastructure for sustainable water purposes.

The areas that will be affected include:

Benoni, Daveyton & Etwatwa: Morehill, Crystal Park, Hillcrest, Cloverdene, Chief Albert Luthuli, Daveyto, Mayfield and Etwatwa

Brakpan & Springs: Slovo Park, Bakerton, Gugulethu/Everest, Witpoortjie, Barsalinga Complex, MPact-New Era, Payneville and Ergo-Mkhanchwa

Tsakane: Tsakane, Langaville, Geluksdal, Labore, Withok

Rand Water says water tankers have been deployed to assist the affected areas during this period.
