Residents of Roshnee in the Vaal are up in arms after experiencing a water outage for almost a week.

According to one resident, the suburb has had no water since Monday at 4pm.

In a statement on Twitter, the Emfuleni Local Municipality says Rand Water has activated a 20% reduction in water supply across the municipality as a credit control measure.

Despite  the Emfuleni Local Municipality saying the reduction  by Rand Water will lead to intermittent water supply during peak water consumption hours and there will be no complete shutdown, some residents claimed to have experienced no water flow at all.

The municipality also says some areas will experience periodic shortages in water supply, particularly in high-lying areas.

It also committed to dispatching water tankers to mitigate the reductions in water supply.
