SA COVID-19 Deaths Rise to 14,028 as Infections Increase to 625,056

The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 625,056.

This is an increase of 2,505 from Saturday’s announcement.

The number of deaths has also increased by 47 bringing the total to 14,028.

Gauteng has the most infections with 209,648 followed by KwaZulu-Natal 112,726, Western Cape at 105,908, Eastern Cape at 86,060, Free State 37,557, North West 25,240, Mpumalanga 24,132, Limpopo 13,167, Northern Cape 10,568 and unallocated infections 50.

The total number of recoveries to date is 538,604 which translates to a recovery rate of 86%.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 3,674,872 this is an increase of 21,902 which were done in the last 24 hours.

“Regrettably we report 47 more COVID-19 related deaths: 3 from KwaZulu Natal, 16 from Gauteng, 7 from Eastern Cape, 7 from Western Cape, 3 from the Free State and 11 from Mpumalanga. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 14,028.

Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families of those who have succumbed to the pandemic.
