SA COVID-19 Recoveries Hit The 300,000 Mark

South Africa has now recorded 309,601 recoveries which translates to 64% of the total infections in the country.

The Health Department has also announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 482,169.

This is an increase of 11,046 from Wednesday’s announcement.

The number of deaths has also increased by 315 bringing the total to 7,812.

Gauteng has the most infections with 171,574 followed by Western Cape at 94,440, Eastern Cape at 77,055, KwaZulu-Natal 73,919, Free State 20,398, North West 18,811, Mpumalanga 13,280, Limpopo 8,240, Northern Cape 4,402 and unallocated infections 50.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 2,918,049 this is an increase of 44,886 which were done in the last 24 hours.

“Regrettably, we report a further 315 COVID-19 related deaths: 121 from Eastern Cape, 96 from Gauteng, 55 from KwaZulu Natal, 34 from Western Cape and 9 from the North West. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 7,812.”

Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families of those who have succumbed to the pandemic.
