The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) has announced that the South African hajj quota for 2019/1440 has been filled barring any last minute cancellations.

At least three thousand five hundreds South Africans have been accredited to perform hajj this year in the blessed land of Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

This year Sahuc released about six accreditation lists following a number of deferrals due to a various factors including the alleged high cost of hajj and other issues.

With a waiting list of 23,000 first time hujjaj, it can take between 4 to 5 years for a South African Muslim to perform Hajj.

During the protocol meeting in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, Sahuc had requested for a quota of six thousand from the Hajj Ministry for hajj 2019/1440.

Sahuc’s Moaaz Casoo says they are glad the hajj quota has been filled.

“Alhamdulillah the South African Hajj quota for 2019 has been filled. We would like to thank all the hujjaj for their promptness in completing all the required information. May Allah (swt) make it easy for all the hujjaj and grant them a hajj maqbool and hajj mabroor Insha’Allah.”

The first day of Hajj is expected to begin on 9 August an ends on the 14th.
