SA Weather Service Issues Storm Warning for Gauteng & Other Provinces

Faizel Patel – 28/01/2021

(Twitter: @FaizelPatel143)

The SA Weather Service has issued a warning for the possibility of disruptive rainfall over the southern and western parts of Mpumalanga, Gauteng and the western Bushveld of Limpopo, as well as the north-eastern parts of the North-West Province.

It says the heavy rain is expected to cause flooding in low-lying areas and warned of isolated incidents breaching of earth dam walls, general disruption to traffic and basic services.

The Weather Services also warned that flooding of roads and including both formal and informal settlements may pose a danger to life particularly fast-flowing rivers and streams.

“It is anticipated that the coming weekend will see a persistence of showers and thundershowers over the central parts of South Africa, whilst maximum temperatures should start recovering, heralding a spell of warmer, albeit humid weather in the days ahead.”

The Weather Service by contrast, the western interior should become sunny, dry and hot during the coming weekend.
