Saudi Arabian authorities are continuing investigations after a man armed with a knife  was arrested in the Haram in Makkah.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reports the man was handcuffed on Tuesday for chanting slogans supporting terrorist groups after asr prayers.

Makkah police say security officials “arrested the man immediately and legal procedures have been taken against him”.

Head of the Presidency for the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Sudais says the “use of racist extremist expressions is outside the doctrine of Islam”.

“He did not respect the sanctity of the place. Allah has made the Haram a place of worship, including salaah, tawaf and Hajj”.

No injuries were reported.
