Solidarity Union Lays Charges Against Zuma And Others Implicated in State Capture

By Umamah Bakharia

Trade union Solidarity has laid charges of corruption, theft, fraud and mismanagement of state funds against 21 alleged state capturers.

They include the former president, Jacob Zuma, the former chairperson of SAA, Dudu Myeni, the former head of Transnet and Eskom, Brian Molefe, the former chairperson of Denel, Daniel Mantsha, as well as the former chief executive of Denel, Zwelakhe Ntshepe.

Radio Islam discusses this further with Solidarity’s Morné Malan.

“The complaint is informed by the Zondo commission report, however, it does go somewhat broader [as the union] has very particular insights into many of the state entities where we have members [of the union],” says Malan.

Solidarity says it does not need to wait for President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recommendations on the Zondo Commission report on State Capture.

“We set up the complaint so that it is comprehensive and structured [so] that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) can immediately begin with the processing of the prosecution,” says Malan.

The charges include corruption, theft, fraud, mismanagement and the misappropriation of funds that include R50 billion.
