The spokesperson of the Jacob Zuma Foundation, Mzwanele Manyi, announced his resignation from the African Transformation Movement (ATM) for a new political home – the EFF. This is despite Mzwanele Manyi once being one of South Africa’s leading voices calling for the Gupta family to be brought to book. He has called for others to follow his lead as we head to the polls next year.

Manyi has clearly expressed his belief in the EFF and has complemented its achievements.

Political analyst Kim Heller highlights her political findings with Radio Islam International. She said the ATM party had achieved very well in parliament.

“In my assessment, the ATM has done better than any of the other political parties because despite having two MP’s parliament, the ATM has punched well above their weight and has achieved a lot for a small party,” she says.

However, Manyi seems to feel the EFF is further along the road and will be able to bring about much more in South Africa.

He said he had gravitated towards the EFF due to its “groundswell representation at local government” level, which made it both an effective agitator and a substantive political opponent.

Meanwhile, apart from Manyi being very vocal and his social media, Heller highlighted his political clout, which will benefit the EFF and distinguishes him from the average member.

She said he comes with a high degree of political experience, mainly from the ANC, with an excellent understanding of the political environment, policies and the workings of the ANC.

“He also brings his experience with the black professional sphere within South Africa which I believe he will be working on as one of his main portfolios and this may benefit the EFF,” she says.
