Total Closure of Van Reenens Pass after fuel tanker burst into flames

All lanes on the Van Reneen’s Pass have been closed after two truck collided.

The crash which occurred early on Wednesday saw one of the trucks which was transporting fuel – burst into flames. Emergency services dashed to the scene to contain the blaze.

KZN EMS spokesperson, Robert McKenzie, said northbound lanes at Tugela Plaza and Tugela East Ramp Plaza have been closed.

According to a statement from the N3TC, which manages the freeway, traffic is currently stacked at road closure points. All emergency services are on the scene,

Motorists have been urged to use alternate routes to reach their destinations.

There were no reports yet if there were any casualties.
