Two Minors ‘Linked to ISIS’ Arrested by Belgium Police

Two minors, aged 16 and 17, have been arrested as suspects in the plotting of what has been called a terror attack by Belgium’s federal prosecutor. The prosecutor’s office said they are suspected of “attempted terrorist assassination and participation in a terrorist organization.”

Al Arabiya reports that the underaged accused were arrested on October 31 following raids in the cities of Eupen and La Calamine, located in the province of Liege. They have been placed in a youth protection centre.

The children had supposedly recorded a video of allegiance to ISIS. They have been accused of planning an attack in which police officers were to be stabbed.

According to Al Arabiya, the arrests were made before Monday’s attack in Vienna.

In Monday night’s attack a man who had allegedly previously tried to join ISIS reportedly ran amok in the Austrian capital, fatally shooting four people. He was then killed by the police.
